OK, we can’t ignore it’s pretty sunny outside but we all know what we have to do in this time of international emergency – stay indoors.
We really hope you’re adjusting well to this weird time, and as we’re not going out, we thought we’d make a list of some entertaining and light-hearted shows that you can check out right now online. Some of these are on paid subscription channels like Netflix or Prime video but most are available for free online. And with all the episodes of Fr Ted and the lads on Craggy Island available, there’s enough content here to keep you entertained for two pandemics.
Check out this TV Show List!

2. Blue Planet – Netflix
Netflix has some incredible series on its books; Planet Earth, Frozen Planet and Night on Earth. We’re not going to recommend watching A Plastic Ocean right now. Not because it isn’t excellent but because it will probably just frustrate you that you’re unable to go outside and do a beach clean and save the planet! And anyway, you’re saving the human race by staying indoors – one heroic thing at a time!
This month, instead, just bask in the majesty of our incredible Blue Planet from the comfort of your own home. It’s truly incredible!

3. Islanders – VirginMedia Player

5. Great Lighthouses of Ireland
Now, this was great when it was first shown on RTE. It doesn’t seem to be on the RTE players which is fairly disappointing.
We did a decent search for it online as we know you’ll enjoy it but it’s a tricky one to find. We did come across it on the US version of Prime Video. So if you’ve got Amazon’s Primevideo AND a VPN you can watch this fascinating series. Otherwise, keep scrolling!

6. Anthony Bourdain’s The Layover – Season 2, Episode 6
Chef Anthony Bourdain, now sadly passed, visited Ireland on a number of occasions with his travel show and from this episode, it sure looks like he enjoyed his time here.
He goes all over the country and eats plenty of food. Of particular coastal interest is his visit to Howth where he has lots of good things to say about the seafood.
