SeaFest, Ireland’s biggest and most spectacular maritime festival, takes place in Galway from 29th June to 1st July with a weekend of fun and family friendly events not to be missed. Seafest is all about celebrating our connection with the sea and a big part of that is celebrating Ireland’s amazing seafood.
Back to help deepen our appreciation is Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Ireland’s seafood agency, and if last year’s show was anything to go by this will again be something special.
We were totally blown away by the BIM big top tent last year with dynamic displays about marine pollution, sustainable fishing methods and all the different types of marine life in Irish waters.
The tent featured a number of impressive displays including audio visual exhibitions, interactive touch pools to really getting punters up close the life in Ireland’s underwater world and sustainable fishing gear displays.
Top celebrity chefs will be returning this year to do some demonstrations and show people how easy it can be to cook amazing sustainably sourced seafood dishes at home sure to impress.
These demonstrations are always popular and really encourage people to be adventurous in the kitchen and indulge in the best of Irish seafood.
A new addition this year will be Joan Mulloy, professional sailor and daughter of mussel producer Michael Mulloy of Blackshell Mussels, who is attempting to sail single handed in the Vendee Globe race. Joan has teamed up with BIM, she will be promoting our connection with the sea and the amazing seafood producers on BIM’s Taste the Atlantic – a Seafood Journey trail on the Wild Atlantic Way.

When Coast Monkey first visited SeaFest in Galway in 2016, we knew straight away we wanted to be a part of this awesome maritime festival. Of course attend every year but now we’re also proud to say we’re helping to promote it and this article is a part of that effort.
