Something for the weekend | Portobello Harbour Festival 12th – 13th May

Festival season is in full swing and this weekend all the action will be waterside at the Portobello Harbour Festival. The event will feature two days of fun family on and off the water with lots of fun activities and talks promoting recycling and biodiversity. The festival coincides with Inland Waterways of Ireland annual Dublin Rally so expect lots of great action and barges on the canal.

On Saturday there will be haiku workshops and literature talks in Rathmines Library. Walking tours along the canal focusing on the history and heritage of the canals. There will also be boat trips on the barge Dubh Linn and Stand Up Paddleboard demonstrations with a chance to try it out yourself!

Sunday will have a focus on biodiversity and community events. Recreate Ireland will take over Portobello Harbour Square using recycled materials to create play opportunities for kids. Kids story telling and music aboard the Cadhla Canal Boat Restaurant, biodiversity and recycling workshops, SUP lessons, barge trips, talks, face painting and lots more.
