Ocean to City Virtual Challenge | Saturday 6th June

Although the physical Ocean to City was cancelled due to Covid-19, organisers Meitheal Mara are  delighted to bring you “The Ocean to City Virtual Challenge” a fun, energetic and creative way to celebrate the rowing and paddling community that was built up over the past 16 years. Ocean to City is part of Cork Harbour Festival and Ireland’s largest multi-craft race.

Participants are invited to pick a challenge that matches their physical and creative ability. The event has two categories to choose from, the Rowing Machine Challenge – where participants see how far they can row in a specified time, and a Fun Challenge – where participants are asked to show their most creative rowing or paddling training on land. The Virtual Challenge has already attracted entrants from Netherlands, Portugal, UK and Ireland.

We will be streaming live on Facebook with updates from the participants and a glittering prize ceremony to award bragging rights.

The challenge is being run with safety foremost and taking all Covid-19 restrictions into account.

For more information, see www.oceantocity.com. Deadline for registration is Thursday 4 June.

Ocean to City Virtual Challenge is organised by Meitheal Mara and part of Cork Harbour Festival online which is funded by Cork City Council, Cork County Council, Port of Cork and Fáilte Ireland.
