Galway Aquarium to create new extension for Penguins

Galway Atlantaquaria is Ireland’s largest native aquarium and has over 70 exhibits featuring around 170 native Irish species. A recent addition includes the rare Slipper Lobster Trean, recently discovered off the Galway coast.

This new extension to the Salthill aquarium will also include an exotic animal enclosure and enhance the existing entrance and lobby.

Galway City Councillor Donal Lyons has said that a facility “where penguins could hang out” would be compatible with the area’s recreational and amenity zoning. Tourism is very important to the business community in Salthill and this initiative is an excellent opportunity to complement the existing tourist related activities in the area.”
