If you are around Dublin this weekend head to the quays and you’ll spot a number of visiting French Navy vessels.
The Sagittaire, Lieutenant de vaisseau Lavallée and Somme are currently docked at Sir John Rogerson Quay and Alexandra Quay West. The ships will be in port until early next week when another load of Navy ships, French, Canadian, Spanish and our own LÉ James Joyce are due in for a port visit.
The French Navy has a fleet of 86 vessels. Sagittaire is one of 11 active minehunters, Lieutenant de vaisseau Lavallée is an offshore patrol vessel and the Somme is a Durance-class Replenishment oiler.
