Féile na mBiollaí, Achill’s newest festival, is coming to the beautiful village of Dooega on Achill Island on the 23rd- 25th June.
The festival celebrates the life of fearless sea pilot and master seaman Donnacha Rúa Mac Cárthaigh, who left behind a lasting legacy on his home village.
The festival starts on Friday evening 23rd June, what would have been Donnacha Rúa 193rd birthday, with poetry recitals, refreshments and the lighting of St. John’s Bonfire.
A major highlight of the event is the first ever passenger ferry to Bill’s Rock on Saturday 24th. On the journey over passengers will be regaled with the story of fearless Donnacha Rúa and will get a chance to experience some of the most breathtaking views along the Wild Atlantic Way including Achill Head, the coast along Keem Bay and Achill’s famous Cathedral Cliffs.

Throughout the weekend there will be lots of fun-filled and family events in the village of Dooega, a stunning part of Achill Island. There will be watersports, pony treks, food and market stalls, treasure hunts guided walks and so much more.
