Fleet of Magnificent Tall Ships Sail in to Dublin this Bank Holiday Weekend

If you love beautiful looking ships cancel all your plans this June bank holiday weekend and head into Dublin for the Tall Ships Regatta!

The event takes place this weekend (1st – 4th June) and it will be the first time that Dublin has hosted a Tall Ships event since 2012. There will be ship tours, sail training opportunities, street performers and water based activities all in and around the Dublin Docklands area.

Tall ship sailing into Dublin Port last year for Riverfest

There will be 15 magnificent tall ships in all shapes and sizes taking part in the regatta organised by Sail Training International. In this two-legged event the fleet will sail from Liverpool to Dublin and then to Bordeaux, in an exciting race through the Irish Sea, Celtic Sea and Bay of Biscay. The stop over in Dublin this weekend will replace the Dublin Port Riverfest which has taken place previous years.

The bigger of the tall ships will be berthed at Sir John Rogerson Quay and some of the smaller ships will be at Grand Canal docks. This is a great chance to get up close and see these magnificent ships in all their glory and some will have free public access from 12 – 6pm on Saturday and Sunday, so don’t miss this chance to have a look around on board! There will also be a number of water activities at the docks including kayaking and wake-boarding, as well as street entertainment and much more!
