Clean Coasts have released the first episode of Making Waves, a new series of online short chats with Irish comedian, author and broadcaster Colm O’Regan and people who through their work help shape and lead the environmental movement in Ireland.
The series was created with the intention to give an overview of what is happening around the Irish Coastline and explore the energetic and revolutionary work going on to tackle some of the greatest environmental issues that affect our ocean and the wider world.
Speakers include: Aoife Deane, MaREI’s Communications and Public Engagement Manager; Ceara Carney, the host of Book of Leaves Podcast and who works with Extinction Rebellion; Fergal Smith, a former professional surfer who is now a regenerative farmer; Sinead Mercier, a Climate Change and Just Transition Consultant and Sinead McCoy, Coastal Communities Manager, Environmental Education Unit, An Taisce.
With speakers from such a diverse background the series will focus on research, policy, agriculture, activism, and community engagement.
In a time when people are inevitably exposed to some bad news, not only as far as the environment is concerned, these chats also have the goal to highlight what gives these activists hope, demonstrating there is a lot to be hopeful about.
Finally, through Making Waves, Clean Coasts not only wants to give people more information regarding what is changing around the country, but also some tools and inspiration to take action.
