Clean Coasts annual Big Beach Clean weekend returns from the 14th – 16th September. Around the country hundreds of beach cleans will be taking place – so join in or grab a few friends and register your own beach cleaning event!
Each year Clean Coasts hold this annual event to raise awareness about marine litter and actively get the public to do something to help. Clean Coasts are once again joining with the International Ocean Conservancy for their International Coastal Cleanup. This means that by joining a beach clean you will be part of the world’s largest coastal clean up event – joining thousands of ocean loving people around the world and making a huge impact to helping the problem of marine litter.
Since this movement began nearly 12 million people worldwide have taken part of the world’s biggest volunteer effort to protect the ocean. They’ve removed a staggering amount of marine litter that would have otherwise been destined for our seas and oceans.
The sad truth is that over 10 million tonnes of litter gets washed into our oceans each year and this has a devastating and sometimes irreversible effect on marine life and plants. We desperately need to turn the tide against marine litter and by taking part in a beach clean you can help!
Join one of the many beach cleans already registered or grab a few mates and organise your own one!
