And the winners are: Marine Industry awards 2016

Nominees decked out in their finery gathered last night in the Radisson Blu Galway for the annual Marine Industry Awards.

The awards recognises the individuals and companies that help grow and development of the marine industry in Ireland. The awards are also part of Seafest, Ireland’s premiere maritime festival that is taking place in Galway all weekend. The festival continues today with the Our Ocean ‘Wealth conference where key issues in the maritime industry will be discussed.

And so without further ado – the winners of the 2016 Marine Industry Awards are:

  • Excellence in Marine Research Award: Coastal/Ocean Observing System – NUIG
  • Excellence in Marine Education & Training Award: Strategic Marine Alliance for Research and Training
  • Excellence in Marine Technology Award: Seagull Buoys – JFC Manufacturing
  • Future Achiever Award: Sean Harrington – Atlantic Towage & Marine
  • Gradam Mara Ghorm: Promara
  • Excellence in Marine Safety Award: Live to Tell the Tale – Bord Iascaigh Mhara
  • Excellence in Marine Renewable Energy Award: OpenHydro
  • Seafood Sustainability Award: Marine Harvest Ireland
  • Seafood Business Innovation Award: Donegal Catch Creations Range – Green Isle Seafood
  • Commercial Dive & Marine Contractors of the Year:  Irish Sea Contractors
  • Marine Tourism & Leisure Operator of the Year: Dublin Bay Cruises
  • Offshore Ireland Award: OpenHydro
  • Ship Operator of the Year:  BG Freight Line
  • Shipyard of the Year: Mooney Boats
  • Ports & Harbours Operator of the Year: Port of Cork
  • Marine Industry Leader 2016: Dr Dave Jackson
