Minke whale washes up on Dublin beach

A dead whale has washed up on a south Dublin beach.  The cetacean is believed a female Minke whale and is 13 metres long. The whale was discovered this morning and follows severe weather conditions on the east coast.

The whale washed up south of Corbawn Lane, Shankill and people are being advised to avoid venturing down to the beach as spring tides are making for dangerous conditions.

There is some speculation that the whale may have been hit by a propeller.
