Everyday Heroes | Waterford Coast Guard fly sick child to UK for transplant

The Waterford Coast Guard flew a 6-year-old girl in need of a liver transplant to the UK last night.

Waterford Coast Guard helicopter R117 carried out the time-sensitive mission on Wednesday bringing the child and her mother from Kerry to London for the lifesaving transplant.

The Maine Rescue Coordination Centre in Dublin expedited the mission yesterday working with the National Aeromedical Coordination Centre. The 6-year-old and her mother arrived safely in London yesterday evening and the Waterford Coast Guard crew arrived back after the successful mission this morning at 4am.
