New seafood trail launched on the Wild Atlantic Way

BIM and Fáilte Ireland have launched ‘Taste the Atlantic – a Seafood Journey, The Surf Coast’ in the beautiful surroundings of Lissadell House, Co. Sligo. This new initiative is a dedicated seafood trail on the Wild Atlantic Way from Donegal town to Erris in County Mayo. The trail features 14 seafood restaurants and five new seafood producers including Wild Atlantic Shellfish, Yummy Oyster Company, Mungo Murphy’s, Blue Stack Oysters and Clarke’s Smokehouse. It joins the successful ‘Bay coast’ route that was launched last year from Erris to Galway Bay.

The aim of this trail is to educated Irish consumers and visitors to how our seafood is caught and farmed, it’s about meeting the producer and understanding where the seafood comes from and recognising how this producers contribute to our economy.
