Hurricane Matthew on collision course with Florida

Across the Atlantic our US neighbours are bracing for a severe tropical hurricane. The southwest coast of the US is expecting Hurricane Matthew to make landfall later today after wreaking havoc for the last week across the Caribbean.

Hurricane Matthew is currently a category 3 hurricane and sits 295 miles south-west of West Palm Beach, Florida with winds of 150kph – however it’s expected to strengthen to category 4 as it moves – either hitting Florida or moving out to sea.

More than two million people along the Florida, Georgia and South Carolina coasts have been advised to leave their homes with more than 20 people reported dead following the Hurricanes destructive activity.
