Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival | On this September

Get ready for the big one! The Galway International Oyster & Seafood Festival, the oldest oyster festival in the world, returns on 23rd to 25th of September. The festival that started back over 60 years ago with a handful of guests has grown into one of Ireland’s biggest annual festivals and recognised internationally with well over 22,000 visitors attending each year.

The festival is held  each year on the last weekend in September to celebrate Galway’s rich annual oyster harvest.

The weekend festival will blend together a mixture of food, fun, music entertainment and of course world class Galway oysters.

Some weekend highlights include the World Oyster Opening Championships, where oyster openers from all over the world compete for the coveted titles, and the masquerade ball where masked revellers will dance the night away.

A new addition to the festival is the Seafood trail – the best restaurants Galway has to offer will be serving up some of the best locally sourced seafood and of course the famed delicacy that is Galway Oysters!

This is one of the final seafood festivals this year so make sure you check it out. For a full list of events and details check out their website.
