A major search is currently under way for a female passenger who fell overboard from a ferry going from Pembroke in Wales to Rosslare early this morning.
The UK and Irish Coastguards are currently working together to scour the area. Ferry workers alerted the coastguard to the missing passenger at around 8.15 this morning. They said that the woman, who was travelling on the Irish Ferry Isle of Inishmore, had been reported missing since 3am and believed that she had gone overboard.
The ferry which had completed its journey and docked in Rosslare earlier this morning was searched by Gardai but has since been released and is on its way back to Pembroke.
Two Irish search and rescue helicopters are currently searching the area. A mayday relay has also been issued for all vessels passing through the area.
*Update: The Dyfed Powys Police said a woman’s body had been located in the Lawrenny area of Pembrokeshire. Officers are working with specialist teams to recover the body which has not been formally identified.
