Doolin Coast Guard recover body found at Cliffs of Moher

A post-mortem is due to be carried out today on the body of a woman recovered from the waters near the base of the Cliffs of Moher yesterday evening.

Emergency services were alerted around 5.00pm after walkers reported what appeared to be a body in the water.

The Doolin Coast Guard unit was launched and the body was recovered and brought back to the boathouse just after 6pm. The woman’s remains were then transported to University Hospital Limerick where a post-mortem examination will take place today.

A Garda investigation into the incident is now underway and no formal identification has been made yet.
