Belgian tourist airlifted to safety from Giant’s Causeway

The Ballycastle and Coleraine coastguards were tasked to Giant’s Causeway yesterday afternoon following a report of man in difficulty on the cliffs.

The Belgian tourist had become trapped near the ‘Chimneys’ having attempted to climb up from the coastal path.




Rescue helicopter 999 was called to the scene and winched the man to safety. The tourist was delivered to the coastguard team awaiting at the top of the cliff.
