New Provider selected for Aran Island air service

Future of Aran Island air service is secured as Aviation Services Limited (Aer Arann) has been selected as the preferred tender. This was confirmed this morning by Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs, Galway West TD, Seán Kyne.

Na Minna airport and the Department had been at an impasse for some time and this brings an end to a long and complex tender process. This Public Service Obligation contract will run from 1st January 2017 to 31st December 2020.

Minister Kyne said “I am delighted that a service provider has been successful in the tender process for an air service for the Aran Islands.

“The selection of the successful tenderer and the awarding of the contract will provide certainty and continuity of this important transport service for the communities of the Aran Islands.”
