Airlifted to safety | Spanish fisherman rescued off Kerry coast

The Shannon based rescue helicopter was involved in a medevac yesterday afternoon off the south west coast.

A Spanish fisherman who had suspected appendicitis was on a trawler around 55 miles west of Valentia Island. Rescue 115 arrived promptly on scene and airlifted the man to safety. He was brought to University Hospital Kerry were he was treated.

The operation was coordinated by the Valentia Island Coast Guard.
