The Dun Laoghaire Borough Historical Society will be marking the bicentenary of Dun Laoghaire harbour with an interesting talk on the history of the harbour. It’s on this Wednesday 22nd March in the Royal Marine Hotel.
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the laying of the first stone of the harbour and maritime expert Cormac Lowth will bring the exciting story of the harbours 200 year history to life.
Also on the night will be the launch of a special journal to commemorate the harbour called “A Safe Anchorage, Dun Laoghaire/Kingstown Harbour 1817- 2017”. It will contain all the harbour related articles from the Dun Laoghaire Borough Historical Society’s journals in one volume. The journal will be available to buy on the night for €8.
The lecture will start at 8pm on 22nd March in the Royal Marine Hotel and admission is €3.
