Have you got what it takes? Drogheda Coast Guard recruiting new members

Ever wanted to join the ranks of the brave men and women of the Irish Coast Guard? Well the Drogheda Coast Guard are looking for a number of new members for 2017.

Last year was a busy and challenging one, they team responded to over 100 incidents, events and exercises. 

The callouts varied from assisting the Gardai with missing persons, people rescued from the river and sea, assisting the Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter with casualty medivac’s, towing vessels to safety, to a missing child at Mornington beach who was found safe and well.

No experience is necessary to join and all training, qualifications and personal equipment will be provided. They do require a serious commitment of your time and in return you’ll get some incredible skills and experiences saving multiple lives in your community, working with Helicopters, Boats and providing Medical care.

The criteria needed to become a member are:

  • You must live in the immediate area with a response time of less than 10 minutes.
  • Are 18+ having reasonable fitness to carry out tasks and have considerable availability and flexibility to attend Emergency incidents and training.

​If you fit the criteria and are interested in joining they will be having a Recruitment Day on the 21st of January 2017 from 12:00 to 16:00 at our boat house Horse Lane, Drogheda.
