Here’s a great idea for you! Watch the beautiful boats sail into Cork Harbour for the Cobh Traditional Sail Regatta taking place from the 30th June – 2nd July.
This annual event is organised in association with the Cove Sailing Club and the Naval Service Yacht Squadron and attracts a fleet of local and visiting traditional and classic boats.
Throughout the weekend there will be a whole range of events to enjoy both at sea and on shore. With racing, BBQs, Sea shanties and traditional music, fancy dress, harbour trips and parade of sails and much more.
The festival officially kicks off Friday 30th June in the Sirius Centre and there will be a lot of buzz about the town with a number of sea shanty performances at various locations around Cobh.
On Saturday and Sunday the racing will begin with the harbour full of stunning boats sailing for glory! Line up along the waterfront to catch the action or head out on the beautiful Spirit of Oysterhaven for a trip around the harbour. At night the action continues with BBQ’s, traditional music and prize giving.
Each year the festival sponsors 10 lucky teenagers to set sail for an adventure of a lifetime with a sailing experience on board the Spirit of Oysterhaven. Sunday will see these youngsters off on their week long adventure on the high seas.
