It’s hard to believe it’s already April! With the clocks springing forward last weekend we’ve got lovely longer days to look forward to. So get out there and enjoy the best of the Irish coast with these great events!
Here’s a few of the top events around the Irish coast this month.
1. Shore 2 Summit Adventure Race | 8th April Buncrana, Co. Donegal
Shore 2 Summit adventure race is the ultimate adventure. Make your way around the majestic Wild Atlantic Way as you bike, kayak and hike towards the summits of Sliabh Sneacht.
With three fantastic Adventure courses with added option of team entries and Duathlon (no kayak) alternative. This adventure is designed to ensure all fitness levels can compete to their own ability.
2. Secrets of the Seashore Easter Camp 10th 14th & 17th – 21st April
Explore the wonders of the seashore in this fantastic Easter Camps for kids. There will be plenty to keep the little ones busy with rock pooling, kite flying, pirate ship building and so much more. As well as having the most fun possible by the shore they will also learn all about the marine environment and why we need to protect it for the future.
3. An Taisce Spring Clean up @ Booterstown Marsh | 23rd April
As part of their annual Spring Clean Up An Taisce will be running a clean up of the marsh on Sunday 23rd April. The meet up point will be at Booterstown DART station car park at 2pm and you’re invited to help out!
4. Shore Shots Irish Surf Festival | 22nd – 23rd April Sligo
Shore Shots the ultimate celebration of surfing returns to Sligo for the second year in a row. The two-day festival will showcase what is great about surfing through film, photography, art and music in Model arts center in Sligo from the 22-23 of April.
5. Spring into Heritage Programme | 24th April – 18th June
The Spring into Heritage and Summer of Heritage programme of events, are a series of Free guided tours run by the Heritage Office of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council. A number of sites will be offering free tours as part of the programme including the National Maritime Museum, James Joyce Tower and Dalkey Castle.
6. Riverfest Limerick | 28th April – 1st May 2017
Limerick’s biggest festival returns bigger than ever with a weekend chock full of events including watersports displays on the river, the Riverfest BBQ Competition, the Riverfestival village in Arthur’s Quay Park, the Barringtons Hospital Great Limerick Run and a spectacular fireworks display.
7. Connemara Mussel Festival 28th – 30th April
In the heart of the beautiful West coast for the Connemara Mussel Festival offers a veritable feast for the senses. Originally established to promote the excellence of the mussels from Killary Harbour, the festival has grown to become a celebration of local people, food, culture and heritage and is recognised as the premier food event for Connemara attracting visitors from near and far.
Great people, great atmosphere, this is a really great one and a fantastic way to welcome the longer days!
